Follow the Dakar on a motorcycle, in Morocco

For January 2027 the Dakar Rally has left Saudi Arabia, and the race is expected to move to Morocco: the first time the world's toughest rally would come back to Africa in almost twenty years. If it happens, we will be there, riding our own BMW motorcycles through the same desert the competitors are racing across.

Chasing Dakar 2027 is a one-off. One group of riders, around nine to ten days in January, following the rally from our partner hotels of the Xaluca group, with Xaluca Arfoud, the gateway to the dunes of Erg Chebbi, as our base. We will not chase every stage. We will ride to the parts of the race that come within reach of our Xaluca bases, and spend the rest of the time riding the desert and the south of Morocco the way we know best.

What we know, and what we don't

The organisers made this decision only weeks before the start, and the official route has not been published yet. That is why we cannot commit to dates, an itinerary or a final price today. Here is what we can tell you:

• When. January 2027, during the rally. Exact tour dates will be set once the official route is announced.
• How long. Around nine to ten days.
• Group size. One group only, maximum twelve riders.
• The route. Built around the rally once the stages and bivouacs are confirmed. We will follow the parts of the race that are within reach of our Xaluca bases, not the whole race.
• The bivouac. We are working to give our group access to the rally bivouac, where the teams, the mechanics and the machines spend the night. We cannot confirm it yet, and we will tell you as soon as we know.
• The price. Expected from €8,000 per rider on a BMW F 800 GS, R 1300 GS or R 1300 GS Adventure (same price for all three). Single room supplement: +€850. Pillion: €5,200. Dakar fortnight is the busiest time of the year in the Moroccan desert, so the final price will be confirmed with the route.

• Our motorcycles are already there. Our BMW Motorrad fleet is based at Xaluca Arfoud through the winter, with luggage, helmet and gloves included.
• A support van with the group. Your luggage travels ahead, and a spare motorcycle travels with us.
